Description
Victorian / Edwardian Diamond-Cut Glass Decanter
A magnificent Victorian / Edwardian Diamond-Cut Glass Decanter, showcasing the exceptional craftsmanship and decorative elegance associated with fine British glassware of the late 19th and early 20th century.
The decanter features a substantial, beautifully proportioned clear-glass body covered in an elaborate all-over diamond and geometric cut pattern. The intricate facets catch and reflect light from every direction, creating a spectacular sparkling effect. Its substantial square-shouldered form and softly rounded corners give the piece a strong yet elegant presence.
The highlight is the impressive faceted spherical stopper, mounted above the neck and secured with a traditional metal collar. The stopper is itself extensively cut, complementing the richly decorated body and adding considerably to the decanter’s visual appeal.
A fine example of period tableware, this decanter would have been equally at home in a Victorian or Edwardian dining room, drinks cabinet or gentleman’s study. Today, it makes an outstanding decorative display piece and an attractive addition to a collection of antique glass.
Collector’s Note
The combination of its substantial glass body, extensive cutting and striking faceted stopper gives this decanter the character of a quality period piece. As with genuine antique and vintage objects, minor age-related marks, wear or imperfections may be present and form part of its historic character.
A beautiful survivor from the age when glass was crafted to impress—not simply to serve.
